With captivating harmonies and a lush, expansive sound, RELAAY layers sophisticated pop with the sharp lyrical sensibilities of seasoned singer/songwriters. Audrey Cecil and Amanda Lucas marry folk-rock-styled harmonies with an indie-pop sonic palette reminiscent of The War on Drugs and Maggie Rogers. Relaay’s sound is familiar and surprising, with enveloping textures that encourage repeated listening. Imagine, say, if Fleetwood Mac and Boygenius had a baby. Their lyrics are borne of a lifelong friendship, and the winding melodies flow with satisfying ease and comfort. Cecil and Lucas have lived parallel lives dating back to their childhoods; their shared history and contrasting personalities are the foundation upon which Relaay’s sturdy sonic identity is built.
Cecil and Lucas have shared stages with a host of household names (Brandi Carlile, Dr. Dog, Sarah McLachlan, Joan Osborne, and Asleep at the Wheel) and have performed at a number of major music festivals, including MidPoint, RiverRoots, FreeFall, Lilith Fair, and the International Folk Festival. Relaay’s debut full-length, Midtempo Magic, will be released later this year.
